Microsoft Office 2016: Modern Workforce Upgrades

Microsoft released Windows 10 months ago and offered free upgrades to users of Windows 7 or 8. Although that generated a lot of excitement, Office 2016 was released more quietly. So, what’s new? As you might expect, there is not much that will be new or jarring. The interface has not been modified except for a small, conspicuous “Tell Me”, which serves as the help menu at the top and in center. The interface has been redesigned to reflect the changing way people work, such as collaboration and teamwork.
Today, a single person is not often in charge of an entire project. You’re often working with others in a team, or even a network of people spread across the country and the globe. These are three new features designed to make collaboration easier.
Word – Real-time collaborative editing: If you have ever worked with someone on a document before, you will need to track the changes between them and merge them at end. You can now see what your coworker is doing as you make your changes. You could also make this a chatroom and save the script.
Outlook – Integration With OneDrive: The desktop version of Outlook allows you to easily access and manage files and notes in OneDrive. It is also much easier to send attachments via OneDrive or SharePoint.
“History” – Business users who use Office documents in OneDrive and SharePoint can now see the history of all versions saved by clicking on the File tab.

Other Notable Features
Sway – A new drag and drop presentation app. This app is described by some as a hybrid of OneNote and Powerpoint.
Excel – Power query: This was previously a separate download but has been fully integrated into Excel 2016. It allows you import data from and convert them into visuals.
It’s the same Office that we know, but with more functionality for working with multiple people. These features could prove to be invaluable for business users, who will find them more efficient and easier.
