NexGenT Welcomes Rob Riker, Instructor & Mentor

Rob is a rockstar engineer and comes to NexGenT with a wealth of experience and a passion for teaching and helping others become Network and Systems Engineers. Rob started with zero experience and worked his way up to become a Network Architect and Principal consultant in just seven years. He quickly learned as much as he could and was soon promoted to the network team, becoming a Network Analyst. He earned his CCNA R&S (Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing & switching) in 2013 and was promoted to Network Support Engineer in the NOC.
After he had earned his CCNA R&S he began to study for the CCNP R&S (Cisco Certified Network Professional Routing & Switching). He received this certification in December 2013. After an acquisition, he left the NOC and the Support Engineering role to work on a large network upgrade project for BMO Harris.
After completing the CCIE R&S (Cisco Certified Internetworking expert Routing & Switching), he entered the consulting industry, working with CNH and Marcus Corporation, The Journal Times and Kerry Ingredients, among other smaller projects.
After 7 months of hard work, Rob passed the CCIE R&S exam in July 2014. He now wants to take the CCIE Lab exam. He set his sights on CCIE and began working for Cisco Partners in Milwaukee. In October 2015, he earned his CCIE R&S. After he earned his CCIE R&S, he was promoted to Principal Consulting and Architect roles, where he managed large, complex networks and deployed them. He worked as a consultant for several companies in the Milwaukee area, until November 2018, when he joined NexGenT to become a full-time instructor. Rob is a continuous learner and is currently working towards his 2nd and 3rd CCIEs as a Security and Service Provider.
Rob is a warmly welcomed member of our community. He will be coaching calls and delivering incredible content to the NexGenT Learning Platform.
