NexGenT welcomes Tobiah Walter, instructor & mentor


Tobiah is a versatile rockstar engineering who has worked in many different jobs over his 15-year career as an IT professional. Tobiah loves to teach students because it is his passion. He joined the United States Air Force in 2003 without any IT experience. However, he was able to learn the skills necessary to work in the Network Infrastructure Maintenance shop and gain hands-on experience at Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington.
After three years, he knew that he wanted to help others in the US Air Force learn the skills necessary to work with ITnetworks. He fell in love with teaching. He taught thousands of Airmen over the next four years how to be rockstar engineers. He also spent six months working on IT in war zones.
Next Tobiah had the opportunity to work as NetworkEngineer for National Reconnaissance Organization while he was still in the AirForce. Tobiah was able to use his IT skills as network engineer to help Space Launch Communications. He was the Lead Engineer for his team of five and helped to ensure that the launches went smoothly. He would end his military career here.
After leaving the military, he was offered a job at Harman International as a NetworkEngineer in AV Industry. This was a greatopportunity to be on the bleeding edge of technology that was taking Audio andVideo signals and turning them into IP packets and putting them on the network.While working for Harman he completed his Bachelor of Science in Business Studiesin Computer Information Technology and his Master of Science in InformationTechnology. Tobiah is highly educated, and he is eager to share his knowledge with NexGenT students.
