Project Management Institute (PMI) is the leading global organization for project managers. It offers the Project Management Professional (PMP), certification.
PMI establishes the standards and guidelines for PMP Certification. These can be found in A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge. Also known as the PMBOK Guide, the PMBOK Guide is an abbreviated version. The PMP certification is for people who have some experience in the field and have completed formal education. These are the prerequisites:
Four-year degree
Leading projects for 36 months
35 hours of project management education/training, or CAPM Certification
Secondary degree (high school diploma or associate’s degree or the global equivalent).
Leading projects for 60 months
35 hours of project management education/training, or CAPM Certification
